Have you been thinking about putting your home sale in the hands of Toronto real estate agents and leaving the big city for the appeal of the west? Maybe the opposite is true, and you want to get out of Red Deer and take advantage of all the greater Toronto area has to offer. Whichever way you want to move, knowing the situation of real estate in Red Deer and in the Toronto area can help you make an informed decision about the entire process.

First of all, we'll take a look at the Greater Toronto Area. A look through the MLS Mississauga agents or others in the area is enough to horrify buyers from many places in Canada. Toronto and its surrounding municipalities have been called the least affordable places in the country, by those from other eastern regions to be sure.

That bears up when you compare Toronto markets to Markham Ontario real estate markets and others in the province. And really, it only makes sense when one considers that this is the most populated area in the entire country.

However, other factors come into play when you are considering Western homes. Not least among these is that Red Deer, like the other two big cities in Alberta (Edmonton and Calgary) are very wealthy places. The entire province benefits from the presence of natural resources, chiefly oil, and as a result most residents are able to live upper middle class and higher lifestyles. That means when it comes to homes on the high end of the scale, prices between Red Deer and Toronto's area are actually fairly comparable.

Where there is a big difference, however, is in the higher density and smaller homes in Red Deer. There aren't a lot of condominiums because of the much smaller population size, and townhomes and apartments are therefore still fairly inexpensive.

Former Toronto residents may also be surprised to find that a private commercial mortgage for business land in Red Deer will be just slightly less than a similar loan in downtown Toronto. Again, the wealth of the city and its residents comes into play here. Although small, most residents make their money off of oil, and that means everyone's out to make a dollar.

All in all, you will find Red Deer homes to be less expensive than those in Toronto, though not by much. Newer homes in particular are quite highly priced, to unless you come here recruited by a Toronto executive search firm, expect to buy in a modest range.
